How Do I Know My Fillings Were Completely Removed
From MercuryTalk
It has been discovered that some dentists leave small pieces of amalgam material in teeth even though they've been asked to remove amalgam fillings. We believe this can be detrimental to your health and is a violation of trust between the Dentist and patient.
How can you discover if pieces of amalgam remain?
The only way we currently know of to detect amalgam remaining in a tooth is by x-ray imaging. Mercury is more dense than most other materials used in dentistry. Since amalgam fillings contain large amounts of mercury, when they are x-rayed, they will appear as dense or dark areas on the image in contrast to other materials.
New imaging technologies are emerging. If you know of a safer or more effective method of imaging to detect mercury deposits in dental fillings, please notify us at russ@mercurytalk.com.
